Lab – Modeling and Simulations

Laboratory of modeling and simulation of thermal and flow processes

Research/measurement opportunities:

The laboratory has high-performance computer equipment with software that allows for complex analyzes and simulations in the field of full-scale design using CAD tools, modeling of phenomena using CFD methods, modeling energy systems, and analyzes of irregular porous structures. The laboratory tests and uses methods and numerical tools that are used in the analysis of thermal, flow and combustion processes, as well as in the analysis of thermodynamic cycles used in energy technologies. The laboratory is equipped with 3 PCs, professional CAD and CFD software, software for modeling, simulation and optimization of energy systems.

Offer:

Scientific and research cooperation in the field of:

– analysis and modeling of thermal and flow phenomena, heat transfer and combustion processes using CFD methods,

– modeling and simulation of thermodynamic cycles in steam and gas-steam energy technologies,

– analyzes and modeling of energy systems in power plants, combined heat and power plants, industrial plants and hybrid energy systems based on renewable energy sources,

– expertise, design and optimization of equipment, machinery and energy systems with the use of modeling results,

– analyzes and computer simulations of phenomena occurring in porous materials and structures.

Research topics carried out in the laboratory:

Project – Negative CO2 emission gas power plant

Additional information:

The software used in a computer lab is mainly:

NX, Star-CCM+, Ansys, Ebsilon Professional, Engineering Equation Solver EES, TRNSYS, Code_Saturne, OpenLB

Laboratory has access and the possibility of experimental verification of the modeling results, primarily with the use of available equipment for measuring flow, temperature and pressure, as well as the products of combustion processes.
